People are always asking me for help with audio. It is hard to give people a lesson in which they can grasp even the basics. Thomas over at ArsTechnica has written up a great article on the subject of uncompressed digital audio.

Thanks to the ability of digital audio to be perfectly copied, transmitted, and carried in small packages, we may be surrounded by more music and human-made audio programming than at any other time in our history. Reaching this point has required a tremendous amount of innovation and standardization for formats and communication between audio systems. In this series of articles, titled The AudioFile, Ars takes a look behind the scenes of common digital audio files.

JoCo in Austin at Cactus Cafe

Saw the Jonathan Coulton show tonight with some friends. He was absolutely wonderful. In fact the entire show was awesome. Paul & Storm opened up for him and rounded out the evening with much fun. It was so awesome for him to be here and we showed him that Austin can draw the geek contingent, just ask MC Chris! :-)

Hearing them do an impromtu Pink Floyd cover was totally awesome, as was their cover of Sweet Caroline along with audience participation. Watching a 3 year old, (his daughter?), sing along to Skull Mountain was adorable. And hearing Paul tell the other two that their crowd had "just gone meta on their ass" after the girls in front of us started signing the letter for "r" for talk like a pirate day, which is TODAY btw.
