Why Wells Fargo Hates their Customers and Money

They apparently do NOT want money anymore as they've driven me to the brink with their stupid $10 charges. All mind you for items that takes no time so should not even cost a loyal customer $.01. But yet it does. Well, I'm just taking my money elsewhere. I've been a long term customer and allowed them to keep and use a fair amount of money but I'll be giving it to someone else now, I'm a customer not a punching bag. When will "old guard" business' wise up and take a cue from companies like Zappos that it's all about the customer. It's called Win-Win, why don't they get it?! sigh. Here's my ugly letter to them.

I am very annoyed in this current economic climate that Wells Fargo feels the need to charge me $10 to overdraft money from one WF account to another WF account. This happens automatically and costs you NO money but yet you continue to charge me. Transferring money myself is free so why is it not based on a trigger? That is just bad business. Also bad business is charging me another $10 for "excess use" on my savings account. My wife and I saved up enough to remodel our house and don't want to keep it in savings and you charge me $10 to use my own money? Since you don't like me withdrawing or using my own money how about I just move my mortgage, my savings, my credit card, and my checking account to another bank if this is how you feel that a longterm and loyal customer is to be treated. Good luck getting a bailout because you will need one once all of your customers leave you because you have insane and predatory business practices that are both poor customer service and bad business. Business can be win-win, you can make money and make me a happy and loyal customer at the same time. Those two ideas ARE NOT mutually exclusive.

    Sweet Salad Dressing Blues

Things I learned from the closing of the olympic games

-That China tries way TOO hard. Fine China, we'll let you sit at our lunch table already.

-That commercialism and advertising is cool as long as the olympics are the ones getting the money. I wondered where the NCAA had learned this.

-That perhaps the best thing for a city with major air quality problems isn't a ton of fireworks and a giant flame.

-That I don't need to see ANYONE else in tights or speedos that aren't athletes.

-That the two most famous people from the UK are apparently Beckham and Jimmy Page.

-Jimmy Page is old as dirt.

-Becks is a douche. (come on, we all knew that already)

-The mayor of london is a goober and possibly mentally handicapped.

-That it's apparently cool to show your diversity by having people pretend to be handicapped and then get out of their wheelchair to dance.

-That perhaps the best way to show how cool of a city London might be is probably not to indicate that it's constantly raining and full of poor people. There is no need for truth in advertising on this one.

-That too much symbolism in the form of writhing masses of dudes is kind of creepy.

-That pop stars from any country annoy the hell out of me.

-That I guess it's probably easier to put on a kick ass show with no apparent safety restrictions.

-That starving people and oppression of the masses mean nothing as long as you can put on a good show.

    Find Clarity in One Day

Do you ever get so busy with the details of your life and the countless things you need to complete, that you end up feeling exhausted and disconnected?

The result: Your mind becomes clouded and unable to focus and you start to make poor decisions regarding your priorities. You end up working hard instead of working smart.

What do you do when this happens?

    17. Make one drink, in large batches, very well.

When I interviewed for my first job, one of the senior guys had me to his house for a reception. He offered me a cigarette and pointed me to a bowl of whiskey sours, like I was Darrin Stephens and he was Larry Tate. I can still remember that first tight little swallow and my gratitude that I could go back for a refill without looking like a drunk. I came to admire the host over the next decade, but he never gave me the recipe. So I use this:
    • For every 750-ml bottle of whiskey (use a decent bourbon or rye), add:
    • 6 oz fresh-squeezed, strained lemon juice
    • 6 oz simple syrup (mix superfine sugar and water in equal quantities)

To serve: Shake 3 oz per person with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glasses. Garnish with a cherry and an orange slice or, if you're really slick, a float of red wine. (Pour about 1/2 oz slowly into each glass over the back of a spoon; this is called a New York sour, and it's great.)

Have you seen "Stuff White People Say" yet? It's teh Funny. Although actually most of them are just things that "people" like. But it's still quite humorous writing. Whoever Clander is, he's busting out multiple amusing rants per week. That's not easy.

Most amusing bookmark pairing of the day. From amazon. Accident?! I replaced my paperback with one of the last of the first printing hardbacks and got this with it.

IT’S a pickle of a paradox: As our knowledge and expertise increase, our creativity and ability to innovate tend to taper off. Why? Because the walls of the proverbial box in which we think are thickening along with our experience
